Manual Well-Drilling Update

At the end of January I traveled to Ziguinchor where the goal was to buy and have made the tools/equipment needed to start manually drilling wells and to train a well-drilling team. However, there were some parts (PVC couplings and pipe) that proved to be impossible to find. After 2 days of searching high and low I was starting to wonder what my next step would be or even if this project would die before it was even born. Finding the PVC components was supposed to be the easy part !!!

I had to make the decision to postpone the training while I searched for a solution to the PVC problem. It wasn't an easy thing to do but it was the right thing to do. I continued to ask God for a solution, trusting that He would not have brought me so far to fail at the first hurdle.

The solution soon presented itself and was so much more than I could have hoped for. I remembered that while in Texas doing the WfA training, they mentioned that somebody had been drilling wells using the same technique in Gambia. I managed to contact them and arranged to travel to Gambia to meet with them the following week. They import the parts needed by the container load and have drilled over 500 wells over the last 5 years. They are also happy to supply me with the parts that I need.

I am currently talking with the Non-Profit organisation in The Gambia about forming a working partnership and sharing knowledge/skills and materials. We are in the process of arranging for them to come down to Ziguinchor to train my team in June. For me and my team it means that we can benefit greatly from their experience and save a lot of time with the learning curve.

So the trip didn't pan out quite as expected but that was because God had something bigger and better for us. As it stands, we have an almost complete well-drilling kit (just one or two items left to buy on the next visit) which is waiting for me and the team from Gambia to train my team in June this year. Hopefully I can also develop a long-term partnership with the Gambian team which will mean that we can reach many more people and supply them with safe water at a low cost and be as effective as possible.

Everything we do is dependent on the support, encouragement, and generosity of people just like you. By partnering with Fountain of Life you are not simply giving money but you are actively getting involved in mission and can have a direct impact in the lives of many people.

We have an active fundraising page on YouCaring.com for this project. We are currently at 50% of our target and we would love to see this project fully funded by the end of May 2018.
